Scituate — On behalf of our committee, I would like to thank all those who attended Saturday's Town Meeting and shouted unanimously to approve the $120,000 of CPC funds for the outdoor Community Basketball Complex. It was a great day for the kids of Scituate. I would also like to thank the groups who had a hand in our even getting to Saturday's vote - the CPC Committee, the school committee-department, the board of selectmen and town hall officials, the recreation commission-department, the Advisory Committee, and the police department. We are indebted to these organizations and their many members for their constructive feedback, concerns, and most of all, support. These community courts have been a true community effort.
We must now finish strong. This funding only represents roughly half of what our total goal is. We have already received a strong influx of financial support in the way of tax-deductible donations from local residents and businesses, as well as great support from outside the community. If you have not yet contributed, we would ask that you consider making a donation today and ensure that we "Give Scituate the home court advantage." When the kids are playing on these courts in the near future, and we see the positive impact this has on their lives and on our overall community, it will feel good to know your contribution made a difference.
For more information or to learn how you can contribute, visit

Tax-deductible donations may be sent and made payable to Scituate Basketball Association, Inc., 5 Trudy's Lane, Scituate, MA 02066. You may also call 781-545-4677 with any questions or to support.
Lastly, I would like to publicly thank the other 14 members of our committee for their dedication, sacrifice, and hard work since last spring, when this project launched. You have, you do, and you will continue to make a positive difference in the lives of young kids in this town. You embody what makes Scituate a great place to live, with true community spirit.
